To help create a more peaceful world, the mission of PeaceMaker Minnesota is to help schools be safer places, free from bullying and harassment, and to help youth  learn positive relation skills like empathy, respect, cooperation and how to resolve conflicts peacefully.

Little Mountain Elementary Students Express Commitment to Peacemaking

In 2008, Peacemaker Minnesota established a partnership with Little Mountain Elementary in the Monticello School District. Since then, this partnership has been made possible in part through your generous donations.

This month, students at Little Mountain created individual peace posters that featured self-portraits captioned with statements about what it means to be a person who promotes peace. These posters were made in conjunction with a concert performed as a collaboration between the school’s art and music program.:::::::Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Office:Media:Clipart:Photos.localized:j0182665.jpg

Students’ responses considered peacemaking efforts that could be made on the individual and the social level. One student highlighted the importance of intentional attitude and behavior:

“To be a peacemaker, be kind and humble. Spread it everywhere you go.”

Another student identified more common forms of outreach:

“I can be a peacemaker by donating money to charities that need it. I can also give food to the homeless. I will try to stop bullying by putting up signs that say ‘stop bullying.’ If everyone in the world would get along the world would be a better place.”
