Peace Maker Foundation wants to give away $89,000
February 28, 2010 -- It's true. Peace maker Foundation's goal for 2010 is to give $89,000 to Minnesota schools to develop anti-bullying and school violence programs. Schools are invited to contact us about this funding.
One confusion is that Peace Maker Foundation is a giant foundation that is disbursing funds from a large endowment. We're not! We're a very small, nearly all volunteer outfit that has to raise money at the same time it gives it away. Perhaps some day we will have a larger endowment -- donations are happily accepted for this purpose -- but for now we are giving it away as soon as we get it.
For this reason our ideal relationship with individual schools is to form a partnership with them. When you work with us, you become part of a federation of schools searching for the most effective solutions to the problem of school violence.
This means we work together to raise the money. It requires work on both sides, but we have found it produces good results.
We are not a "one-solution-fits-all" organization. We work with schools who are trying a spectrum of different approaches: formal school violence curriculum, peer counseling, anger management, bringing in speakers, computer-based programs, etc.
A listing of Minnesota schools involved in this federation is here.
