Respectful Workplace Workshops: Communication Skills for Minnesota Teams
WORKSHOPS FOR WORKPLACES
Conflict doesn’t disappear when people grow up. It moves into meeting rooms, inboxes, and group chats. PeaceMaker Minnesota teaches teams peaceful, respectful communication: pause before reacting, listen until the other person feels understood, and work through disagreements instead of around them.

WORKPLACE TRAINING
Respectful workplace training your team actually uses
Most teams get a policy and a video, then get told to figure it out. Our training is in person and practical. People leave with skills they use in the next meeting, the next hard email and the next conversation at home. It's built to keep teams connected, not just compliant.
For your whole team
Do your meetings end in confusion rather than clarity? Most workplace conflict starts with someone who didn't feel heard.
The Peaceful Pen: an active listening workshop for your team
The Peaceful Pen teaches peaceful communication. Each session pairs a short, practical skill lesson with guided writing prompts that help people practice it. No writing experience needed, and sharing is always optional.
Skill building in three training blocks
Each training block is a 3-hour course. Choose the blocks that fit your team, or book all three as a series.
-
Reflective Listening
3-hour course
Listen so the other person feels understood.
-
Managing and Expressing Emotions
3-hour course
Pause before reacting, and say what you feel without escalating.
-
Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution
3-hour course
Work through a disagreement instead of around it.
Skill cards to keep. Every training block comes with skill cards your team takes back to work, and home.
FOR BUSINESSES THAT GIVE BACK
Your business can be the reason a child feels safe at school
When your business gives back to the community through PeaceMaker Minnesota, the impact shows up in real classrooms. Your support puts a Peace Guide beside a student who needs someone in their corner, books in the hands of young readers learning to name big feelings, and Ambassadors for Respect in front of fourth graders learning what inclusion looks like. There are four ways to give. Choose the one that fits how your business is built.
Program sponsorship
Not a logo on a banner. Something your community can point to directly: the reason this work is here is you.

WHAT LEADERS ASK US FIRST
Common questions from Minnesota employers
-
Minnesota has no general law requiring private employers to provide harassment prevention training, though some sectors and public employers have their own rules, and many organizations offer it as a best practice. Check with your HR advisor or attorney about what applies to you.
-
Your policy and reporting procedures cover the rules. Most programs skip the skills part: how to listen, disagree respectfully, and step in when a coworker is being mistreated. PeaceMaker Minnesota training focuses on those skills, along with your organization's policy.
-
Workplace bullying is repeated mistreatment, not a single disagreement. It can look like being yelled at or put down in front of others, being intentionally left out of meetings or information, having your work sabotaged, or being the target of rumors. The pattern is what sets it apart from ordinary conflict.
-
Take reports seriously, document them, and follow your policy consistently. Prevention matters just as much: when managers and coworkers know how to respond early, fewer situations ever reach HR. That's the part our training is built for.
-
In person. People learn to listen and respect by practicing together, so we bring the training to your team.
-
Keep it to one practical skill people can use that afternoon, leave time to practice, and send people back with something to keep. A Peaceful Pen session follows that shape: a short skill lesson, guided practice and skill cards to take home.,
-
Choose a local cause your team cares about and support it in a way that fits your business: sponsoring a program, matching gifts from your customers or community, giving directly, or making a lasting endowment gift. PeaceMaker Minnesota offers all four, and Dan McNeil is happy to talk through what fits.
-
For a three-hour training, $1,000.
